Build trust and understand strengths, exceptionalities, learning preferences, present school demands, academic gaps and executive-function barriers. Agree on one primary goal and a starting point.
LEX Academy · The IGNITE Method
Parent + Student + Coach. One goal. Four months to build a better way forward.
We work on what your child needs to accomplish now while changing how they approach learning for what comes next. Current schoolwork becomes the setting for academic support, executive-function coaching and strategies designed around the learner.
THE COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP
Understand → Build → Practice → Transfer
Real schoolwork · Individualized strategies · Shared learningA focused partnership
Some students understand the material but struggle to start, organize, sustain or finish their work. Others face an academic gap alongside an executive-function barrier. Collaborative looks at both, then uses the learner’s real assignments and immediate goals to practice a better approach.
We learn who the student is before choosing tools. Their strengths, interests, exceptionalities, processing preferences and relationship with learning shape the plan. The family and coach set one meaningful short-term goal together and revisit it throughout the cycle.
The 16-week journey
Weeks 1–4
Build trust and understand strengths, exceptionalities, learning preferences, present school demands, academic gaps and executive-function barriers. Agree on one primary goal and a starting point.
Weeks 5–8
Work with current assignments while introducing academic strategies, external supports and practical routines. Help the parent understand which supports help and why.
Weeks 9–12
Test strategies across real work, adjust what is not transferring and invite the student to take more of the lead. Coach and parent change their prompts as skills grow.
Weeks 13–16
Review progress toward the original goal, strengthen usable routines, fade supports where appropriate and leave with a clear next-step plan.
Progress is measured against the family’s defined goal. The pace and level of independence will differ for each learner.
Why collaborative?
The student learns to recognize their learning process, practice academic and executive-function skills, and take increasing ownership.
The parent shares what happens outside sessions and learns when to prompt, how to support and when a structure may be ready to change.
The coach listens, observes, teaches, models and adjusts the approach with the student and parent. Information moves in every direction.
Work in the present
Real schoolwork gives us the opportunity to practice planning, starting, organizing, drafting, checking and finishing where those skills are needed. When a specific academic gap is holding up current work, we address it as part of the goal.
The aim is a more usable learning system for this student and family, supported by strategies they can keep applying beyond a single assignment.
Possible starting goals
Your learner’s goal is chosen together; these are examples, not a fixed curriculum.
