What does 2E+ mean?
Twice Exceptional Plus. The whole person, seen together.
Twice-exceptional (2E) learners have gifted strengths alongside disabilities or learning differences. The established 2E framework can include more than one area of need.
At LEX Academy, 2E+ means Twice Exceptional Plus: all of a learner’s exceptionalities come together to paint a fuller picture of who they are. Their strengths, gifts, learning differences, executive-function needs, interests, and lived experiences interact. No single label tells the whole story.
Understanding that complete picture helps families and educators develop evidence-informed, individualized approaches that build on strengths while addressing barriers. The goal is to support the student as a whole person, with learning strategies and environments aligned to how they learn and what they need to thrive.
LEX uses 2E+ as inclusive educational language for layered profiles, not as a medical diagnosis or a universally standardized classification. Exceptionality is often layered, not binary.
