Explore the proposed progressionThe core series
Eight planned courses, four learning hours each. The 32-hour series combines guided learning, rehearsal, classroom application and reflection. Initial examples focus on K–8 practice; schools can discuss adaptations for their setting.
Take a focused course or work through the full sequence. Each course adds one practical component to your teaching toolkit.
ADHD, giftedness, twice-exceptionality, 2E+ and layered learning profiles.
In practice: Separate strengths, observable barriers and instructional needs. Consider language, culture, sensory context and uneven development without diagnosing.
You build: A strengths-and-barriers learner profile with an instructional starting point.
Evidence of learning: Explain which evidence supports each instructional choice.
Predictable routines, relationships, transitions, regulation and respectful accountability.
In practice: Teach expectations explicitly, rehearse transitions, notice antecedents and build supportive responses to disengagement or escalation.
You build: A classroom routines plan, transition script and teach–practice–feedback sequence.
Evidence of learning: Compare transition time and participation with a baseline; preserve student dignity.
Purposeful attention, inquiry, discussion, retrieval and meaningful challenge.
In practice: Plan backward from understanding. Alternate explanation, thinking and practice; use checks to adjust pace, technology and challenge.
You build: A redesigned lesson with pacing decisions, questioning prompts and a transfer task.
Evidence of learning: Look for explanation, application and transfer, alongside participation.
Task initiation, planning, working memory, organization and follow-through.
In practice: Make the first step visible, externalize plans, model self-talk and gradually reduce prompts while keeping necessary access supports.
You build: A launch routine, visual workflow and plan for fading adult prompts.
Evidence of learning: Track initiation, completion quality and level of prompting across comparable tasks.
Gifted depth, neurodivergent access, flexible grouping and multilingual learners.
In practice: Use preassessment, purposeful scaffolds and meaningful extension. Offer accessible ways to learn and respond while preserving the learning goal.
You build: One lesson with an access pathway, a core pathway and an advanced extension.
Evidence of learning: Assess the same intended understanding through suitable response options.
Writing, language, reasoning and the gap between understanding and production.
In practice: Use oral rehearsal, explicit models, paragraph planning and guided practice. Examine selected IGNITE Writing Engineering and Word Detectives examples.
You build: A writing lesson sequence, worked example and feedback guide.
Evidence of learning: Compare work for meaning, organization and independence using a shared rubric.
Formative assessment, intervention cycles, MTSS and school-support collaboration.
In practice: Choose a measurable instructional goal, use comparable progress checks and document adaptations. Connect classroom implementation to existing 504/IEP plans and school procedures.
You build: A progress-monitoring plan and instructional decision log.
Evidence of learning: Use the evidence to justify continuing, adapting or intensifying instruction.
Student coaching, family communication, peer feedback and sustainable teacher practice.
In practice: Rehearse brief coaching conversations, build shared goals and communicate strengths and next steps. Use boundaries and manageable routines to sustain implementation.
You build: A coaching script, family update and 30-day classroom implementation plan.
Evidence of learning: Use learner reflection, a teach-back and follow-up evidence to evaluate the plan.
The stated hours describe the proposed learning design. They are not a claim of approved continuing education credit.
The IGNITE connection
IGNITE brings rigorous academics, explicit instruction, executive-function support, gifted depth, neurodivergent scaffolds and mastery evidence into the same lesson. Teachers learn when to model, when to guide and when to step back.
The core series uses selected examples from IGNITE. Advanced training focuses on faithful implementation of designated curriculum materials. See IGNITE Implementation & Licensing for curriculum support and the developing permissions pathway.
Our whole-person language: Twice-exceptional (2E) is established terminology for giftedness alongside disability or learning differences. LEX uses 2E+ / Twice Exceptional Plus to describe a whole-person, layered-exceptionality educational framework, not a medical diagnosis.
A progression based on practice
This is the proposed LEX credential pathway. Advanced stages are in development and open only when instruction, assessment and supervision are ready.
32 hours total
Complete the required learning, course checks and eight practical artifacts. Receive a LEX-issued completion certificate showing the work completed.
48 hours total · +16 practicum
Apply a classroom plan, complete two feedback cycles and submit a portfolio. The proposed assessed credential requires evidence of competent practice.
72 hours total · +24 specialization
Build specialist skill in designated IGNITE materials, lesson delivery, executive-function coaching, progress monitoring and family communication.
96 hours total · +24 leadership
A future invitation-based stage for educators who demonstrate sustained practice and can mentor others, facilitate learning and support instructional quality.
LEX certificates and assessed credentials are issued by LEX Academy. They do not confer a state teaching license, a clinical credential or permission to operate a LEX business. No TEA-approved CPE, CEUs, university credit or outside accreditation is claimed. Confirm any employer acceptance before enrolling.
Assessment is planned around lesson quality, access and rigor, coaching, evidence-based adjustment, and professional practice. Criteria and resubmission options will be provided before registration.
For schools & leadership teams
Start with a priority such as smoother transitions, stronger task initiation, more thoughtful discussion or clearer writing. Then choose the depth of support your team needs.
Focused introduction
A 90-minute, half-day or full-day session built around a selected instructional challenge, worked examples and a practical implementation plan.
Sustained learning
The eight-course series, peer practice and feedback, with artifacts teachers adapt to their learners and curriculum.
Implementation partnership
Needs review, targeted training, coaching and a leadership debrief. Scope includes agreed measures, responsibilities and follow-up dates.
Possible measures include task initiation, transition time, participation, quality of academic work, independent strategy use and teacher implementation. We establish a baseline and review change without promising a particular score increase.
Focused school support
Consultation and resource design can be discussed independently of the course series. Each inquiry begins by agreeing on the question, scope, deliverables, fee and timing.
An individual learner
Review existing records, work samples and teacher observations to connect a learner’s strengths and barriers to classroom demands. Discuss instructional priorities, strategies to try and evidence to monitor.
The proposed scope may include a teacher consultation and classroom implementation plan. This is educational problem solving, not a new diagnostic evaluation or eligibility determination. School and family permissions are agreed before student information is shared.
Families seeking their own records review can explore Learning Profile Review.
Discuss a student-profile consultationA school or team
Examine how your team organizes MTSS, intervention cycles, Section 504 implementation, documentation and progress monitoring. Identify a manageable workflow, shared responsibilities and review points.
This is consultation on school processes and implementation. Course 7 teaches individual educators to use assessment evidence; systems consultation applies that work across a team. Schools retain responsibility for their procedures and eligibility decisions.
Families seeking support with their child’s school meetings can explore School Advocacy.
Discuss school systems supportMaterials for your setting
Discuss lesson materials, slide decks, student explainers, games, parent communication and implementation guides adapted to an agreed grade range, learning goal and audience.
Confirm the format, review process, accessibility and permitted use before work begins. Ready-made curriculum is available to explore separately in the Word Detectives collection.

The long-term vision is a carefully selected network of educators who can deliver approved IGNITE services with LEX training, ongoing supervision and clear quality standards.
Training would be one prerequisite. Participation would also require a separate application, demonstrated practice, operational readiness and a signed agreement defining curriculum and brand use.
A future referral process could match consenting families with approved educators based on fit, availability and location. Course completion does not guarantee acceptance, client leads, earnings or a LEX branch. Branch rights and referral services are not currently offered for purchase.
